My Blood a Mammoth by Drew Pomeroy

My only blood

a mammoth still

beneath the calm surface watching

the place go on as if nothing

could weather my bones lean

the tall pine to mud banks

your face breaks like a seed

the way you feel your heart beating

down the walls of your throat

the way I feel heavy water

full of fish

broken trees.
