Jonel Sallee is a lifelong lover of learning. Her formal education includes a bachelor’s degree in English and Humanities (University of Louisville), a master’s degree in English (Brown University), and a doctorate in English (University of Kentucky). She spent more than forty years teaching English and Arts and Humanities at the middle school, high school, and university levels in Providence, Rhode Island, and in Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky. Her previous publications include scholarly essays on interdisciplinary relationships among literature, philosophy, and science; a year-long series of newsletters around the subject of Sacred Spaces; and a scattering of poems, including a small chapbook, Trees Stand Tall.
Before her self-imposed pandemic confinement, she was an avid traveler; now, her travel comes through her memories of mountains and canyons, art museums and cathedrals; and the enigmatic interweavings of a lifetime of inner and outer journeys; these memories are providing the elements of her next writings.
